Low - "Transmission"

I'm sorry, how did I not know about Low covering Joy Division, recorded by Steve Albini?! That is just about as perfect a combination as you can get!

Albini

The man can do no wrong. This interview from The Gothamist only proves it. (Even if the interviewer was a bit of a tool.)

"What it boils down to is that I’ve maintained a scrupulous cultural ignorance since about 1985 when I realized that what’s going on out there in the regular world means nothing to me. If it’s not being done by people I can identify with in some way or people that say something that punches through the distance between me and them and makes me pay attention to it. If it’s not that, if I don’t find it rewarding then I’m not going to spend any energy trying to think about it."

Amen! ...I just wish I could have witnessed that bus with him and Odd Future.

Nina Nastasia - Outlaster

I've been a Nina Nastasia fan for years. My favorite record being The Blackened Air. All of her records have been recorded by Steve Albini who imparts each recording with an airiness and scope that I can't help thinking would be lost if she were to work with anyone else. Her latest, Outlaster, has been on repeat since I got it a few days ago.
